The whole purpose of the Metafit workout is to push the body both in terms of muscle fatigue and heart rate to the limit in short bursts. We are trying to mimic that human instinct to ‘run for your life’ every muscle should be exhausted after the session in order for the body to send the post workout recovery into overdrive!
Metafit is not a cardio class, so DO NOT PACE YOURSELF the whole idea is to work to YOUR maximum. The intervals are meant to be flat out and it is meant to hurt, that is the effect we are trying to achieve! 10-15 minutes of high intensisty is plenty of time to achieve a metabolic conditioning effect, but only if you are working flat out! If it feels easy, you aint working hard enough.

Some interesting research shown to me at the weekend, was a study that showed that low – medium intensity cardiovascular training actually encouraged the body to store fat! Yes, because they were burning tiny amounts of fat during their walking, jogging etc the body started to store more fat as fuel for these activities. As we know at metafit, 65% of your calories are burnt by your RMR (resting metabolism) so in order to increase this you need to deplete the muscle of glycogen through intense strength and intervals and boost RMR! not try to burn fat with low-medium level cardio training.
